Our Top Picks at a Glance
| Mattress | Best For | Feel |
|---|---|---|
| Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid | Best Overall | Plush and supportive |
| Lucid Gel Memory Foam | Side Sleepers on a Budget | Extra soft and contouring |
| Helix Midnight Luxe | Side and Combination Sleepers | Plush yet balanced |
| Lull Luxe Hybrid | Cloud-Like Comfort | Soft and cradling |
| Leesa Original Mattress | Foam Mattress Fans | Pressure-relieving foam |
1. Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid Mattress
The Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid stands out as the best overall option for sleepers who want a soft mattress without sacrificing underlying support. Its balanced construction creates a plush, cloud-like surface that lets you sink in comfortably while still making it reasonably easy to move around and get out of bed.
Its soft feel is particularly appealing for side sleepers because the cushioning can help cradle areas such as the shoulders and hips. The plush comfort also makes it a compelling choice for people who prefer a cozy sleep surface rather than a firm, flat feel.
The biggest advantage is the combination of softness and support. Instead of feeling like you are simply disappearing into the mattress, the hybrid design provides a more balanced sensation that can work well for sleepers who want substantial cushioning but still appreciate stability.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Cloud-like plush comfort | Premium price range |
| Good cushioning for side sleepers | May be too soft for firm-mattress fans |
| Hybrid support underneath the plush surface | Heavier than basic foam mattresses |
2. Lucid Gel Memory Foam Mattress
The Lucid Gel Memory Foam Mattress is a strong choice for shoppers who want an especially soft, contouring feel without spending as much as they might on a premium mattress. Its plush foam construction allows the body to sink deeply into the surface.
Side sleepers may particularly appreciate the way the mattress cushions the hips and shoulders. The deep contouring creates a cocoon-like sensation that can feel exceptionally comfortable for sleepers who enjoy close body-hugging memory foam.
The tradeoff is that its deep sink can make changing positions more difficult. Combination sleepers and back sleepers who prefer more responsive support may find it less suitable. Setup is straightforward, with the mattress designed to expand after unpacking.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Very plush memory-foam feel | Deep sink can make repositioning harder |
| Excellent contouring for side sleepers | Less suitable for some back sleepers |
| Accessible price point | Initial off-gassing may occur |
3. Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress
The Helix Midnight Luxe offers a middle ground between deep sink and responsive support. Instead of feeling extremely soft or excessively firm, it provides a plush surface with a more balanced underlying sensation.
Side sleepers can benefit from its cushioned comfort because the mattress is designed to provide a supportive hybrid feel while allowing the body to settle into the upper comfort layers. It can also be a useful option for sleepers who frequently change positions.
The resort-like feel makes the Midnight Luxe particularly attractive to shoppers looking for an upgraded sleep surface. It is a premium choice, but its combination of plush comfort and hybrid responsiveness makes it more versatile than an ultra-soft foam mattress.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Plush yet balanced feel | Premium pricing |
| Well suited to side sleepers | May not satisfy firm-mattress preferences |
| Hybrid construction provides responsive support | Thicker and heavier than basic foam options |
4. Lull Luxe Hybrid Mattress
For shoppers searching for cloud-like softness, the Lull Luxe Hybrid is an appealing option. Its comfort layers are designed to conform to the body’s contours, creating a cradled sensation that can feel especially inviting at bedtime.
The mattress can work for both side and back sleepers who enjoy a softer surface. Its cushioning can help create a cozy feel while the hybrid construction adds a layer of support beneath the foam comfort system.
Value is another advantage. Compared with some premium alternatives, the Lull Luxe Hybrid can offer a more approachable way to get a plush hybrid sleeping experience. However, its support and cushioning may change somewhat during the break-in period, so expectations should be realistic.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Soft, cloud-like comfort | Feel can change during break-in |
| Contours to the body | May lose some side support over time |
| Good value for a plush hybrid | May be too soft for firm-support seekers |
5. Leesa Original Mattress – Queen
The Leesa Original Mattress is a straightforward all-foam option for shoppers who prefer the close, pressure-relieving feel of foam without a coil system. Foam mattresses are often appealing to sleepers who want a smoother, more uniform sleeping surface.
Its foam construction can provide a comfortable combination of cushioning and contouring. For people who enjoy a mattress that gently conforms around the body, an all-foam design can deliver the soft, enveloping sensation they are looking for.
The main consideration with foam is temperature and responsiveness. Foam can retain more heat than a coil-based mattress, and sleepers who move frequently may prefer the quicker response of a hybrid. Still, for those who prioritize soft pressure relief and a simple foam feel, the Leesa Original remains a compelling choice.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Comfortable all-foam design | Can retain more heat than hybrids |
| Pressure-relieving contour | Less responsive than many hybrid mattresses |
| Simple, supportive foam construction | May not suit sleepers wanting strong bounce |
How to Choose the Best Soft Mattress
A soft mattress should feel comfortable without leaving you feeling unsupported. When comparing plush mattresses, pay attention to your normal sleeping position, how much you enjoy sinking into foam, and whether you prefer the responsive feel of coils.
- Side sleepers: Look for enough cushioning around the shoulders and hips to reduce pressure while maintaining support underneath.
- Combination sleepers: A plush hybrid can provide cushioning while making it easier to change positions than very soft memory foam.
- Back sleepers: Avoid choosing softness alone. Adequate support is important so the mattress does not allow excessive sinking.
- Foam lovers: All-foam mattresses can provide the deep, hugging sensation many soft-mattress shoppers want.
- Hybrid fans: Hybrid mattresses combine cushioned comfort layers with coils for a more responsive overall feel.
Final Verdict
The Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid Mattress is our top choice for shoppers who want a soft, cloud-like mattress with a balanced hybrid feel. The Lucid Gel Memory Foam Mattress is especially attractive for budget-conscious side sleepers who love deep contouring, while the Helix Midnight Luxe offers a more premium balance of plush comfort and responsive support.
The Lull Luxe Hybrid is worth considering if cloud-like softness and value are your priorities, while the Leesa Original Mattress is a straightforward choice for anyone who prefers an all-foam sleeping surface.
